A new micromethod for routine measurement of serum LDL - apolipoprotein
نویسنده
چکیده
A new method for low density lipoprotein (LDL) (d 1.019-1.063 g/ml)-apolipoprotein B (apoB) determination has been developed, based on the fact that very low density and intermediate density lipoproteins (VLDL and IDL) contain apolipoprotein C-I (apoC-I), whereas this apolipoprotein is apparently absent in LDL. VLDL and IDL were quantitatively precipitated with a monospecific anti-apoC-I antibody whereafter LDL-apoB in the supernatant was quantitated by Laurel1 rocket electrophoresis. Over a wide range of cholesterol and triglyceride values there was a linear correlation with LDL-apoB values measured after ultracentrifugation. The method would be useful for routine measurements, especially in children, since only 25 p1 of serum is required, and for making the diagnosis of hyperapobetalipoproteinemia, which at present is complicated. -Andersen, G. متن کاملThe association between small dense low density lipoprotein, apolipoprotein B, apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A1 ratio and coronary artery stenosis
Abstract Background: Recently, small dense low density lipoprotein (sdLDL) has been highlighted as a new risk factor for the coronary artery disease (CAD).Small dense LDLs are believed to be atherogenic since these particles are taken up more easily by arterial wall. They are readily oxidized and have reduced affinity for low density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor and increased affinity...
متن کاملApolipoprotein B in type 2 diabetics--a cross sectional study in a tertiary care set-up.
OBJECTIVE To analyze the pattern of dyslipidaemias including apolipoprotein B in type 2 diabetes. METHODS A total of 120 diabetics were studied for their lipid profile including serum triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in fasting state, along with apolipoprotein B levels. RESULTS Raised apolipoprotein B was the most frequent lipid disorder in type 2 diabet...
متن کاملMolecular Diagnosis of Familial Hypercholesterolemia
Abstract Background and objectives: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is an autosomal disorder characterized by increased levels of total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol. The FH clinical phenotype has been associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease and premature death. The mutation in LDLR gene in most cases is responsible for FH phenotype. Furthermore, other ...
متن کاملThe Relationship between Levels of Lipids and Lipoprotein B-100 in Maternal Serum and Umbilical Cord Serum and Assessing Their Effects on Newborn Infants Anthropometric Indices
Background & aim: This study aimed to determine the relationship between lipid and apolipoprotein B-100 (apo B-100) levels in maternal and umbilical cord sera as well as the effects of these components on anthropometric measurements of newborn infants. Methods:This correlational study was performed on 85 appropriate for gestational age (AGA) newborns and their mothers. For analysis, 5 ml of m...
